Wrapped
Wrapped explores the concepts of vulnerability and isolation through the use of patterns.
A 2016 photo project I did as part of a photography course at the University of Chicago.
I was initially inspired by the purpose of wrapping paper, specifically how it is something that is manufactured to be destroyed. Wrapping paper has the ability to conceal objects, often gifts and things we long for. Perhaps these items signify something greater like the idea of being seen and making connections with others. By using patterns, the act of concealing, both protect but also adorn the things we hold dear.
